fire is a luxury these days
not so basic
you see it more in mansions than trailers
more in libraries than kitchens
so I turn on the tv which has always been a comfort to me
I remember days of bonanza, the lone ranger and the original star trek
when we still believed in frontiers
I remember the moment before colour was standard
how exciting it was
the rainbow, the wizard of oz
it's not a new thing, this way of seeing, and it's changing
our vision encased in a box gets bigger
and flatter the richer we are
we're engulfed
